Bill Belichick, one of the most iconic and successful figures in NFL history, may be nearing the end of his legendary career with the New England Patriots. According to reports, Patriots owner Robert Kraft has already decided not to renew Belichick's contract after the current season.

This news comes as no surprise to many, as the Patriots have struggled since the departure of quarterback Tom Brady in 2019. In the four years without Brady, the team has only managed one winning season and one playoff appearance.

A Decision Already Made

The news of Belichick's potential departure was first reported by Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston. According to Curran, Kraft made his decision after the Patriots returned from their loss in Germany in November.

"When they came back from the loss in Germany, the conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision had been made," Curran said on his network's 'Arbella Early Edition' program. "They were going to move forward with the situation, and at the end of the year, there would be a parting for various reasons."

Belichick's Legacy and Future

There is no doubt that Belichick will leave behind an incredible legacy. He is the second-winningest head coach in NFL history in terms of both regular season and postseason victories. He has also led the Patriots to six Super Bowl victories, more than any other coach in NFL history.

While it appears that Belichick's time with the Patriots is coming to an end, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the legendary coach. He has not publicly commented on his plans, but there are rumors that he may be interested in coaching another team.

With Belichick's departure, the Patriots will enter a new era. It will be interesting to see who they hire to replace him and whether they can continue to be a successful franchise.
