Denver Broncos' Chad Johnson reveals the Pittsburgh Steelers will be signing quarterback Russell Wilson in the of season. Wilson is set to depart from Broncos as he was benched in the recent NFL season due to contractual issues.
Russel Wilson joined the Broncos franchise in 2022 after spending 9 years with Seattle Hawks where he won the Super Bowl XLVIII. Wilson found himself second best to Jarret Stidham at the end of the NFL season. With all pieces coming together for his departure Johnson revealed that Russell Wilson is set to join the Steelers.
"Russell Wilson's coming on over there to the Steelers." Johnson said on the Nightcap show.
Wilson appeared willing to stay in Denver, where he contributed to 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions (3.25 per interception), although this is lower than his performance during his time with the Seahawks.
It seems that head coach Sean Payton is looking to part ways with the 35-year-old player following his least productive season to date, despite being selected as the 75th overall pick in 2012.
The current Steelers' quarterbacks, Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph, are not meeting expectations, leading to the team finishing the 2023 regular season in the AFC North with a 10-7 record, three wins behind the Baltimore Ravens.
It appears they are looking to add another dynamic player, with Wilson being the top choice over Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears.
"No, he's heading to Atlanta," Johnson stated plainly. "I have received the script." Draft Kings has the Steelers as the favorites at -250 to acquire Wilson.
Johnson put up a some bold statements and talked with confidence. No official statement has come from Russell Wilson nor the Steelers.
