A potential top-10 pick in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft, Ron Holland, has suffered a season-ending right thumb injury, according to NBA insider Marc J. Spears. The 6'8" forward for the NBA G League Ignite was averaging an impressive 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.5 steals before sustaining the injury during a January 31st game against the Iowa Wolves.
Despite the setback, Ron Holland remains confident in his draft position. He told Spears,
"I've done really good this season. I've grown a lot and put enough good film out there to be considered a top-10 pick."
This sentiment is echoed by draft analysts, with Ron Holland ranking fourth in both Bleacher Report's latest mock draft and big board.
While missing the remainder of the G League season is undoubtedly a blow, it's important to note the injury is considered precautionary and not expected to impact his draft stock significantly. Holland's impressive performance throughout the season, including his scoring prowess, rebounding ability, and defensive presence, has already solidified him as a top prospect.
Looking ahead, Ron Holland is expected to participate in the NBA Draft Combine and individual workouts with teams as he prepares for the June 26th draft. With his talent and positive outlook, there's no doubt Holland will be a sought-after player on draft night, and his NBA journey is set to begin soon.
