The Catalonian court just recently sentenced Dani Alves to four years and six months in prison for sexual assault. This news brought a shockwave to the footballing world. After the news Barcelona took action and abruptly removed Dani Alves for the legends list on their official website.
Barcelona court found strong and clear evidence supporting the charges on Dani Alves. In addition to prison the Brazilian former right-back is ordered to serve 5 years of probation and is totally prohibited from contacting the victim for 9 years and 6 months. He was also forced to pay 150,000 euros in compensation and legal fees.
Barcelona's decision to remove Alves from their legends list sparked huge media attention and public backlash. After amounts of critique, Barceloan were 'forced' to bring back his status at their official website.
Despite the ongoing drama the Catalonian club is yet to release an official statement regarding the matter .Yet, Barcelona reversed their initial choice due to public backlash and reintroduced Alves as part of their history on their official website.
