Sam Jewell To Chelsea as He Accepts Offer

In a significant move, Sam Jewell, the head of recruitment at Brighton & Hove Albion, has agreed to take on a senior role at Chelsea.
After stepping down from the south coast club, the 34-year-old is set to transition to a global position within Chelsea's multi-club model under the ownership group, starting around November following the completion of his notice period.

Not A suprise for Sam Jewell to go at Chelsea

Sam Jewell is following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Paul Winstanley, who made a similar move from Brighton to Chelsea 16 months ago.

Following Swansea City's head of football operations Josh Marsh's upcoming appointment as loans manager, Chelsea's co-sporting directors Winstanley and Laurence Stewart are expanding the team reporting to them.

Jewell is set to become the latest addition to Chelsea's roster from Brighton, following the footsteps of Winstanley, Stewart, Graham Potter, and several other coaches who have made the same move in recent years.

In the summer of 2022, Marc Cucurella joined for an initial £56million, followed by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for around £25m, and midfielder Moises Caicedo for £115m a year later.

Jewell, the son of former Wigan Athletic manager Paul, played a role in the Ecuador international's transfer to Brighton and the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Argentinos Juniors in 2019. Jewell declined the opportunity to become the technical director at Rangers in October of last year, opting to stay at the Amex Stadium. Mike Cave, the assistant technical director, and George Holmes, the scouting and intelligence manager, will take over Jewell's duties at Brighton right away.

Sam Jewell is set to be involved in a multi-club project aimed at recruiting and selecting new players. Chelsea have acquired their 11th staff/player from Brighton in just 17 months since the change in ownership.
