Real Madrid has identified Roberto De Zerbi as a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti's contract r ends at the end of the season, and it is widely assumed that he would depart to take over as manager of Brazil.
The Italian has yet to declare his future plans, but Spanish tabloid SPORT is already planning to have a successor ready to go.
De Zerbi has been a revelation for Brighton and Hove Albion since joining them over a year ago, helping them secure European football for the first time in their history after finishing sixth in the Premier League.
According to Florentino Perez, the 44-year-old is "prepared to make the big leap in his career" and has been particularly impressed with his work in nurturing young players.
Madrid have a nucleus of young players, including Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Endrick, who will join next year, and Perez feels he can take them to the next level.
Xabi Alonso, who now leads Bayer Leverkusen undefeated in the Bundesliga, has also been connected with the role.
Other names include Los Blancos veteran Raul, who is in charge of the B squad, and Jose Mourinho, who makes a surprise comeback.
