Tonight, at 22:30, Rafa Nadal will be the subject of an intriguing interview on El Objetivo de Ana Pastor, La Sexta. Talking about his retirement, becoming a father, injuries, Carlos Alcaraz, the Manacor tennis star responds to all inquiries.
In addition, Nadal took use of the occasion to address some of the criticism he has been receiving since being named ambassador of the Saudi Tennis Federation.
"I don't think Arabia needs me to wash its image," Rafa Nadal said in response to a question regarding his presence in Saudi Arabia. It makes sense that the world is heading there given its enormous potential. It seems as though money is needed to purchase everything, and Rafa has now sold out to it as well.
Although he acknowledges that people have feelings, Nadal believes that the nation needs to make significant progress because it is "very backward in many ways."
Furthermore, Nadal declared that he would admit he was "completely wrong" if the nation doesn't carry on with the progress he thinks it should in the next ten or fifteen years.
Carlos Alcaraz is the heir apparent to Rafa Nadal.
"He's very young and very good," Rafa said. "Carlos plays tennis at an amazing level. For his age, I don't notice any weaknesses. When I was his age, I had a lot more tennis weaknesses than he does.
"I had worse cuts, worse backhand, and worse serving. His future is bright, and we'll have to wait and see how his body reacts."
Rafa Nadal has struggled in recent years due to injuries and physical issues, but he won't admit that he has detested the game of tennis.
It would be really unappreciative of me. I would never have been able to live the story that tennis has allowed me to live without it. He said, "I just get tired of my body not responding the way I would like it to."
