Teenage sensation Pedro Acosta (Tech3) continued his impressive rookie season in MotoGP with a stunning podium finish at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal. Starting from seventh on the grid, the 19-year-old Spaniard showcased his riding prowess with a series of daring overtakes.

Pedro Acosta And His Audacious Ride Secures Dream Podium

Acosta wasted no time in dispatching his fellow KTM riders Jack Miller and Brad Binder in the early stages of the 25-lap race. His hunger for a strong result didn't stop there. He then set his sights on the more experienced campaigners, pulling off audacious maneuvers to overtake MotoGP legends Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, propelling himself into fourth position.

Pedro Acosta and his MotoGP podium dreams seemed to materialize when Aprilia's Maverick Viñales suffered a suspected gearbox issue on the final lap, forcing him to crash. This unexpected turn of events gifted Acosta a remarkable third-place finish in just his second MotoGP race.

Despite the fairytale debut, Acosta remains grounded. The highly-rated rookie emphasizes the importance of managing expectations.

"We have to keep our feet on the ground," he said. "This was a fantastic weekend, but the upcoming races might be challenging, especially in America or Jerez."

Acosta's Audacious Ride Secures Dream Podium

Acosta acknowledges the learning curve he faces, particularly with several new tracks on the MotoGP calendar.

"Every race is a question mark for us," he admitted. "There are tracks I haven't ridden a MotoGP bike on before Malaysia, where I tested in February."

Maintaining composure throughout the race was crucial for Acosta's success. He revealed:

"The final lap was actually my slowest. I only realized I was in podium contention after Viñales crashed." The Tech3 team played a vital role in keeping him focused. "They showed me a message on the pit board that simply said 'calm,'" he explained. "With a fourth-place finish seemingly secured, the message was to maintain composure and bring the bike home safely."

Acosta's final lap might not have been his fastest, but it secured a historic result. "I saw Viñales crash, and that's when I knew I had to avoid any mistakes," he stated. "Looking back at the race footage, I was riding a bit wide and making some errors. That final lap was probably my slowest of the entire race."

Pedro Acosta's phenomenal performance in Portugal has sent shockwaves through the MotoGP paddock. His remarkable talent and level-headed approach suggest a bright future for the young rider.
