On Tuesday night the Orlando Magic paid their tributes to their superstar Shaquille O'Neal by retiring he number 32 jersey.

Upon his arrival in Orlando as the No. 1 overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft, O'Neal's presence alone turned the Magic from a new team into a strong contender in the league. Magic CEO Alex Martins accurately captured the impact of O'Neal, expressing that he elevated the Orlando Magic's prominence.

Even though he left the franchise more than twenty years ago, O'Neal's jersey retirement was a delightful surprise. Contemplating the importance of the moment, O'Neal expressed his surprise, stating, "I never anticipated this day would come."

The retirement of his jersey during the Magic's 35th anniversary season highlights the lasting impact of his time with the team. O'Neal's time with the Magic was filled with many notable achievements and recognition. He was the first player to be selected for an All-Star team, win the Rookie of the Year award, and receive All-NBA honors while playing for the Magic.

As Shaq was seeing his jersey ascend, he was in teh presence of  Magic co-founder Pat Williams, former GM John Gabriel, former head coach Brian Hill, and former players Jeff Turner, Anfernee Hardaway, Dennis Scott, and Nick Anderson. "You know, there's an old saying: never forget where you come from," he said.

This ceremony remarks his legacy left behind and still being a fan favorite years after his retirement.
