Nuggets Tie Series with Dominant Win in Minnesota

May 13, 2024Author: Klind Parangoni

The Denver Nuggets refused to go down without a fight, pulling off a convincing 115-107 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night. This win for the Nuggets not only snapped a two-game losing streak, but more importantly, tied the Western Conference Semifinal series tie at 2-2.

The series has been a battle of home-court disadvantage, with each team losing on their own turf. However, the Nuggets displayed a renewed sense of purpose in Minnesota, capitalizing on the Timberwolves' miscues and showcasing their depth.

Jokic, Murray, and Gordon Lead the Charge

Nikola Jokic, the reigning NBA MVP, spearheaded the Nuggets' offense with a near triple-double, dropping 35 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jamal Murray, fresh off a buzzer-beater in Game 3, continued his resurgence with 19 points and 8 assists. But the biggest surprise came from Aaron Gordon, who dominated the paint, finishing with a blistering 27 points on a remarkable 11-for-12 shooting performance (Nuggets tie the series).

Edwards Shines, But Timberwolves Lack Support

Despite Anthony Edwards' valiant effort, scoring a team-high 44 points for the Timberwolves, the supporting cast failed to deliver. Karl-Anthony Towns struggled offensively, shooting a disappointing 5-for-18 from the field for just 13 points. Similarly, Rudy Gobert's impact was minimal, contributing only 11 points and 14 rebounds without a significant defensive presence.

Second Quarter gives the tie of the Series to The Nuggets

The turning point came in the second quarter. With the Nuggets already leading by a narrow margin, a series of Timberwolves mistakes opened the door for Denver. Capitalizing on these errors, the Nuggets extended their lead to a comfortable 15 points by halftime, capped off by a clutch three-pointer from Jamal Murray.

With the momentum firmly in their grasp, the Nuggets head back to Denver for a pivotal Game 5 on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will need to find a way to generate more consistent offensive production and tighten up their defense if they want to regain control of the series on the road.
