In UFC 296, reigning world champion Leon Edwards will defend his championship against Colby Covington in what promises to be an intense and dramatic bout. 

The battle is set for December 16 in Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena, which will host the ultimate mixed martial arts company's premier event and feature a high-caliber welterweight duel.

Edwards enters this bout with unflinching confidence after an impressive streak of 11 wins in his past 12 contests.

The champion has established himself as a dominant force in the welterweight division and will now face a major opponent in Covington.

The 32-year-old from Kingston, Jamaica, defeated Kamaru Usman twice in his most recent fights, the first in August 2022 to earn the world championship and the second in a rematch seven months later.

He is now the betting favorite and appears to be ready to prove why he is the world champion.

Covington is a strong contender.

Covington is a dangerous challenger who will seek to dethrone the champion and take the title for himself. He is known for his contentious style and talent in the octagon.

His aggressive fighting style and willingness to put his opponents under duress make him a deadly opponent for any fighter.

The 35-year-old had two chances to contend for the world championship, but both times he was defeated by Kamaru Usman in 2019 and 2021.

He may not be the favorite to win this fight, but he is capable of dethroning Edwards.

Brazilian Alexandre Pantoja is the favorite to defend his flyweight belt against American Brandon Royval in the evening's co-main event.
