The New York Knicks are back in the Eastern Conference Semis for the second year in a row! In a thrilling Game 6 battle against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Knicks emerged victorious 118-115, thanks in large part to a phenomenal performance by Jalen Brunson.
Brunson put on a masterclass, exploding for a career-high 41 points and 12 assists. He became the first Knick since Bernard King in 1984 to score 40 or more points in three consecutive playoff games, and the first NBA player to achieve that feat in a series clincher since Michael Jordan in 1989. His clutch shooting down the stretch, including a go-ahead three-pointer with 24.4 seconds remaining, proved to be the difference for New York.
The Knicks got off to a hot start, building a commanding 33-11 lead in the first quarter. However, the 76ers responded with a vengeance in the second, outscoring New York 34-11 and taking a 54-51 lead into halftime. The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading baskets and neither side able to establish a significant advantage.
With the game tied at 111 and the clock ticking down, Josh Hart stepped up with a massive three-pointer to put the Knicks up by three. This clutch shot proved to be a turning point, as the Knicks were able to hold on for the victory.
The Knicks now set their sights on the Indiana Pacers, who await them in the Eastern Conference Semis. Game 1 will tip-off on Monday night at Madison Square Garden. With Brunson playing at an MVP level and the team riding a wave of momentum, the Knicks will be looking to make a deep playoff run.
For the 76ers, this loss marks another disappointing end to a promising season. Joel Embiid had a strong performance with 39 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Knicks' late surge. The team will now head into the offseason with questions surrounding their ability to compete for a championship.
