Celtics Sweep the Pacers to Reach NBA Finals

May 28, 2024Author: Klind Parangoni

The Boston Celtics are back in the NBA Finals! In a thrilling display of resilience, Celtics were able to sweep the Indiana Pacers 4-0 in the Eastern Conference finals. This marks their second trip to the championship round in three years.

The clinching game was a nail-biter, with the Pacers leading or tied in the final minute. However, the Celtics shut them out for the final 3:32 and emerged victorious 105-102.

Derrick White emerged as the unlikely hero, sinking a clutch three-pointer with 43 seconds remaining to break the tie and send Boston to the Finals.

While Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who was named Eastern Conference Finals MVP, were the offensive leaders throughout the series, White's poise under pressure delivered the decisive blow.

Boston's Road to Redemption

This victory holds special significance for the Celtics. Exactly one year ago, they faced a 3-0 deficit against the Miami Heat in the conference finals. White's tip-in sparked a comeback that tied the series, only to fall short in Game 7.

This year, the narrative is different. Boston has won seven straight playoff games, boasting a perfect 6-0 record on the road and a dominant 3-0 record in elimination games.

Pacers Put Up a Fight Despite Setbacks

The Pacers, despite missing key player Tyrese Haliburton, shouldn't go down without credit. They were undefeated (6-0) on their home court before the series and fought hard to extend their season.

Indiana lost all three games despite holding leads or being tied in the closing minutes. Their effort was evident, but Boston Celtics' ability to close out games proved superior as they sweep the Pacers and finishing their NBA playoff run

Looking Ahead

The Celtics now face either the Dallas Mavericks or the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are currently locked in a tight Western Conference finals battle.

With their unwavering resilience and newfound clutch performers, Boston appears confident and ready to battle for their 18th NBA championship.
